Ways To See Us

We see clients from a wide range of backgrounds and there are different ways to pay for your session. See the options below:

Privately

You pay the total fee. No referral required. No rebates apply.

Total Fee: $230

Under Medicare

If you are eligible for a Medicare rebate you pay the full fee up front and then Medicare pays part of the fee (the rebate) back to you. Your GP can provide you with a referral and Mental Health Care Plan.

  • Total Fee: $230

  • Medicare Rebate: $98.95

  1. See your GP: Discuss your concerns and request a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

  2. Referral sent: Ask your clinic to send the referral directly to Stormbird Psychology.

  3. Book your session.

  4. Pay for your session in full.

  5. Claim your rebate: we can process this for you or we can provide a receipt you can use to lodge your own claim.

You may have experienced other medical providers only charging you the gap fee and wonder why we can’t do the same. Unfortunately, it is a legal requirement that psychologists charge you the full fee up front and then process your rebate/provide you your receipt.

Private Health Insurance

As a small private practice we do not have a specialised machine for claiming private health insurance claims (HICAPS). If you would like to use your private health insurance you can pay the full fee up front and then submit your claim to you private health insurance provider.

Each health insurer covers different amounts - often a percentage of the total fee. Contact your health insurance company to check what they require (for example an invoice or receipt) and how much they cover before you book.

Worker's Compensation - QLD ONLY

Worker’s compensation or workplace injury sessions via Workcover QLD are billed directly to WorkCover QLD. However, Workcover does not pay for late notice cancellations or ‘no shows’. In the event of a late notice cancellation you are responsible for paying the full fee: $267.
