How Psychology Can Help

Recovering from a workplace injury involves more than physical healing. Whether you've experienced a physical injury, a psychological injury, or are living with persistent pain, it's common to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious or uncertain about the future.

Psychological support can help you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and physical symptoms while developing practical strategies to manage stress, build confidence and support your recovery. Therapy may also help with adjusting to changes in your daily life, coping with pain, improving sleep, managing low mood or anxiety, and navigating the challenges of returning to work.

At Stormbird Psychology, we provide evidence-based telehealth services tailored to your individual circumstances. We work collaboratively with your treating team, including your GP, rehabilitation provider and WorkCover Queensland case manager where appropriate, to support your recovery goals and a safe, sustainable return to meaningful work and daily life.

Persistent pain after workplace injury

Recovery isn't only about tissue healing. Persistent pain can affect sleep, confidence, mood, activity levels and return to work. We provide evidence-based psychological support to help people understand pain, build confidence in movement and work towards meaningful recovery.

What’s The Process?

If you haven’t started your claim yet:

  1. See your GP

  2. Lodge your claim

  3. Book your appointment with your psychologist

If your claim is pending your first few sessions are automatically approved to make sure you get the care you need fast!

If you have an approved claim:

  1. Talk to your WorkSafe QLD Case Manager for approval. They may require you to get a GP referral first.

  2. Once approved - book your appointment with your psychologist. Leave plenty of time for your psychologist to confirm you have approval with your case manager.
